DPSCS 2nd Annual Turkey Drive!
We’re proud to announce the 2nd Annual DPSCS Turkey Drive, taking place on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Calvin B. Scruggs Funeral Home (Front Side), located at 1412 East Preston Street, Baltimore, MD 21213.
DPSCS will be providing turkeys, non-perishable items, gently used clothing, shoes and accessories.
Governor Wes Moore Declares A State Of Emergency And Takes Action In Support Of Marylanders Impacted By The Federal Government Shutdown And Suspension Of November SNAP Benefits
On November 5, 2025, the Moore-Miller Administration announced a series of actions to protect Marylanders during the federal government shutdown. According to data from 2023, there are approximately 269,000 federal employees residing in Maryland and 225,000 contractors working in Maryland. In addition, thousands of Marylanders rely on federal programs.

Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy (MSCCSP) is Hosting Public Comments Hearing!
The annual public comments hearing of the Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy (MSCCSP or Commission) is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. It will be held at the Maryland Judicial Center, 187 Harry S. Truman Pkwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.

Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI) hosted its 3rd Kairos Ministries Weekend
Eastern Correctional Institution recently hosted its 3rd Kairos Ministries Weekend, a faith-based program focused on hope, healing, and personal growth. The closing ceremony brought together participants, volunteers, and staff to celebrate transformation and community. DPSCS is proud to support programs like Kairos that inspire positive change and strengthen the path to successful reentry.
The Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) honored incarcerated veterans
The Maryland Correctional Training Center (MCTC) honored incarcerated veterans during a special Veterans Day ceremony that also celebrated the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The event recognized the service and sacrifice of those who have worn the uniform, reminding us that honor, commitment, and courage endure beyond the battlefield. DPSCS is proud to support programs that pay tribute to our nation’s heroes.
Seeds of Light Series at the Baltimore Youth Detention Center (YDC)
The Baltimore Youth Detention Center (YDC) welcomed guest speaker Charlie Hurt as part of the Seeds of Light series, an initiative focused on inspiring youth, building confidence, and strengthening pathways to success.
Charlie’s mission is rooted in empowerment: He trains and coaches individuals navigating career and life transitions, helping them overcome barriers, restore self-belief, and gain the skills necessary to secure meaningful employment and pursue a living-wage future.
Through conversations like this, youth are encouraged to see their potential, trust in their abilities, and take bold steps toward positive change.
The Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCI-W)
The Maryland Correctional Institution for Women (MCI-W), the CE Transition Entrepreneurship Academy celebrated the culmination of its 6-week entrepreneurial journey, where incarcerated women transformed ideas into real-world business concepts.
With guidance from community partners, entrepreneurship instructors, and guest mentors, participants learned to:
Conduct market research, Develop sustainable products and services, Craft compelling pitches, and think like business leaders
In a true “Shark Tank” experience, finalists presented their pitches before a panel of judges, including representatives from the Maryland Department of Labor, showcasing hard work, creativity, and determination.
Congratulations to DPP Class 125 and Class 17
DPSCS staff and family were elated to celebrate the commencement of our new Parole and Probation agents in Class 125 and Monitor Academy Class 17!
These new graduates will work in Parole and Probation field offices all across the state, and they play critical roles in supervising individuals who are conditionally released into the community.
The Monitor Academy class graduates play critical roles in supervising those convicted of impaired driving-related offenses and will work in Parole and Probation field offices all across the state.

MRDCC hosted its annual Fall Women’s Resource Fair
The Maryland Reception, Diagnostic & Classification Center (MRDCC) hosted its annual Fall Women’s Resource Fair, bringing together community partners and support organizations dedicated to empowering women returning home.
Attendees explored vital resources and services focused on wellness, workforce readiness, education, and reentry success.
