Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) recently hosted its Art Expo
Jessup Correctional Institution (JCI) recently hosted its second Art Expo, showcasing the incredible creativity, talent, and hard work of incarcerated artists.
This year's event marked a special milestone, as guests were able to purchase artwork for the first time, providing artists with an opportunity to share their work with the broader community. Attendees explored a diverse collection of artwork, highlighted by portraits of Governor Wes Moore and DPSCS Secretary Carolyn J. Scruggs, while the JCI Band provided live entertainment that added to the event's vibrant atmosphere.
The Art Expo also welcomed formerly incarcerated individuals who returned to JCI to celebrate the occasion, reconnect with staff and peers, and witness the continued growth of the program.
This event highlighted the power of artistic expression as a tool for personal growth, self-reflection, and rehabilitation. Congratulations to all of the participating artists and performers who helped make this year's Art Expo a tremendous success.
