Commission on Correctional Standards
The Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards advises the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services regarding standards for state, local and privately-operated correctional facilities. Read more
Criminal Injuries Compensation Board
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board administers compensation for innocent persons suffering physical injury or death as a result of criminal acts or in their efforts to prevent crime or apprehend criminals. Read more
Division of Capital Construction and Facilities Maintenance
The Division of Capital Construction and Facility Maintenance is the division within the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services responsible for the planning, budgeting, and design of capital and maintenance projects at correctional facilities statewide. Read more
Division of Correction
The correctional side of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services includes all Maryland state prisons. Dedicated professionals oversee 24 prisons and pre-release centers whose mission is to protect the public by securing sentenced criminals and preparing most of them to return to their communities. Division of Parole & Probation
Offenders on parole and probation, living in our neighborhoods and working in our businesses, require supervision and guidance to keep focused on the ultimate goal of overcoming the "revolving door" of the criminal justice system. Division of Pretrial Detention
The Baltimore Pretrial Complex annually holds more detainees than any local jurisdiction in Maryland. It offers a wide array of mental health, social, educational, recreational, spiritual, and rehabilitative programs. Read more
Emergency Number Systems Board
The Emergency Numbers System Board coordinates installation and enhancement of county 9-1-1 emergency telephone number services systems. Read more

The Information Technology and Communications Division (ITCD) provides automated criminal justice information services for criminal justice and non-criminal justice purposes to the department, other federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies, and authorized users among the general public. Inmate Grievance Office
The Inmate Grievance Office has jurisdiction over all inmate grievance complaints against Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services officials and employees. Read more

Maryland Parole Commission
The Maryland Parole Commission is charged with determining on a case-by-case basis whether inmates serving sentences of six months or more in state or local facilities are suitable for release into the community under certain conditions or supervision by the Division of Parole and Probation.
