DPSCS Commitment to Victim Services


To better serve victims of crime, bridging victims’ services across DPSCS supervision agencies became a top priority in 2011. Overseen by the newly created Office of Victims Services, the various victim service units within the Department assist crime victims navigate the process as offenders pass through State correctional facilities and parole/probation supervision (see chart below). DPSCS can also keep victims informed of offender whereabouts and any changes in their supervision status.


In an effort to meet our mission of protecting the public, our employees and those we supervise, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services has a belief in the value of the human being – especially those who have been impacted by crime. Whether a direct victim of someone under DPSCS supervision, a victim’s family member, or a member of the public negatively impacted by a criminal act, every victim has a right to respect, compassion and access to the criminal justice system.

How Can 211 Maryland / Victim Services Unit Assist Me?

Maryland 211 211 Maryland is the state's most comprehensive health and human services resource database. With over 7,500 resources, individuals with essential needs can get connected to local help 24/7/365.

211 MD oversees a statewide network of call centers, providing essential connections to Marylanders when they need it most. Callers are automatically routed to their regional call center for assistance.

The Maryland Information Network, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has powered 211 Maryland since 2010.
